Tuition and cancellation policy

Tuition covers your weekly enrollment in your assigned lesson day and time and guarantees your spot in that scheduled lesson throughout the month. Most months will have 4 lessons, but occassionally there will be an extra week for a total of 5 lessons in a month.

Lessons may also be booked à la carte; however, we cannot guarantee that your preferred lesson day and time will remain available. Tuition-enrolled students receive priority when scheduling lesson times.

Cancellations

We request at least 24 hours' notice if you cannot attend your scheduled lesson. Thank you for respecting our time!

Make-Up Lessons

Make-up lessons are offered Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays only, based on availability.

Make-up lessons are not guaranteed with less than 24 hours’ notice, for either tuition or à la carte lessons.

Frequently asked questions about lessons

We've gathered answers to some of the most common questions about our riding lessons, facility, and what to expect when you join the Galloping Hills Farm family.

What should I wear for my first riding lesson?

For your first lesson, we recommend long pants (like jeans or riding breeches) and boots with a small heel. Helmets are provided, or you may bring your own approved helmet.

Do I need prior experience to take lessons?

No prior experience is necessary! We offer lessons for all skill levels, from complete beginners to advanced riders. Our instructor tailors her teaching to your individual needs.

How old do children need to be to start lessons?

Our minimum age requirement to start riding lessons at Galloping Hills is 5 years old.

What types of horses do you have for lessons?

We have a wonderful team of well-schooled lesson horses and ponies, suitable for riders of all ages and abilities. You can meet them on the "Meet our lesson team" page.

How long are the riding lessons?

Most lessons are 60 minutes long, including preparation and cool-down time with the horse. Experienced students may be permitted to groom and tack up 10-15 minutes prior to their lesson time. We also offer shorter, 30-minute private lessons for younger students.

What is your cancellation policy?

We require 24 hours' notice for cancellations. Please refer to our full policy on the lesson page or contact us for more details.

Do you offer group or private lessons?
